The most populated scheduled caste is Pulaya and Scheduled tribe is Kani. The scheduled caste and Scheduled tribe colonies are provided with electricity and drinking water. As a result of the Special Component Plan/Tribal Sub Plan schemes, hundreds of families could be brought above the poverty
line.
