Public Distribution System in Thiruvananthapuram

There is a wide network of public distribution units in the district, comprising of 1862 retail ration depots and 32 wholesale shops. The number of ration cards issued in the district is 759386. The Kerala State Civil Supplies Corporation has opened Maveli Stores through which all essential commodities are being sold at reasonable prices.

The super market in Thiruvananthapuram city sells almost all kinds of commodities ranging from groceries to wristwatches. At present there are 79 Maveli Stores, 2 Super Markets, 39 kerosene depots, 13 Labham markets, 2 mobile Maveli stores, 5 Maveli medical stores and 4 petrol bunks in the district, besides Co-operative Maveli stores and LPG outlets.
